Rueters LLP Client Wins Judgment for Constructive Dismissal by City
Barry Weintraub and Garret Schromm obtained a summary judgment award of 26 months’ pay in lieu of notice plus costs in a constructive dismissal claim by Rueters client Lisa Maasland against the City of Toronto. Justice Graeme Mew of Ontario Superior Court of Justice ruled that Ms. Maasland, a computer engineer, was constructively dismissed by City of Toronto when it unilaterally reassigned her to a substantially different position in the course of a reorganization of the City’s Traffic Management Unit. The case is under appeal by the City. The Court’s decision is here: Maasland v. City of Toronto – 2015 ONSC 7598 (CanLII).
